GREAT FALLS MODEL RAILROAD CLUB
G-Gauge Rail-Spiking Clinic, September 25, 2010

Above, right: Bob Russell, Irving Young, and Ernie Packard look on as Raymond Parent paints the rail. Center: Dave Kierstead measures carefully, preparing to kerf the homasote. Left: Ernie Packard and Ray Parent watch as Dave Kierstead (center) uses the jigsaw to kerf the homasote.

Rail ties were cut and stained. Larry Cannon had created a tie placement jig to help space ties evenly. Tape holds the ties in place.

Travis Johnson and Don Lush worked together throughout the clinic. Center, Bob Russell demonstrates his special pliers that are designed to hold spikes so members can compare pliers used for installing spikes.

Close up photos show the fine detail involved in spiking the rails.
