GREAT FALLS MODEL RAILROAD CLUB

HELIX PROGRESS

The following photos show the progress in making the helix for the Great Falls Model Railroad Club HO layout from September 30, 2008, through November 27, 2009. Photos were taken by Neil Culpepper, Dale Darling, and Paul Lodge.

The above photos show the beginnings of the helix in September 2008 and February 2009. While work progressed on essential renovations throughout the club building, the helix and the rest of the HO layout were on hold. The following photos show part of the helix work crew on April 11, 2009: Roger Allen and Skip Flagg.

Some of the other members of the work crew: Tom Jones in April, Travis Johnson in May, and Travis working on the wiring in September.

On Saturday, September 19, 2009, the club held its Dedication Ceremony and invited guests to our first Open House. Trains could be run on parts of the helix.

Photos, above, left to right: during the Open House, Joe St. Michel and Jay Calnan discuss the helix on the HO layout; Don Lush holds Alton for a better view; Club President Stephen Martelli explains HO gauge to County Commissioner Elaine Makas. More photos of the helix as it looked on September 19 follow.

During the last two weekends in November 2009, the club held its first ExTRAINaganza. The following photos of the helix were taken on November 21 and 27.
