The G-Scale group began as seven members with an empty room on April 14, 2010. Ed Leslie presented the group with a detailed architect's plan for the permanent layout, shown here with club president Rick James. By November 20, two tracks were in operation for the five-day ExTRAINaganza. Group members decorated the layout for Christmas and temporarily loaned buildings from their personal layouts.

At the club's Christmas party on December 16, the G-Scale group held its Golden Spike ceremony. Architect Ed Leslie was given the privilege of installing the golden spike and hammering the first blow. Club member Gabriel Garcia watched as first Ed and then Bob Russell pounded in the golden spike.

Left to right: G-scale group members Howard Palmer, Dave Kierstead, and Steve Hall each had an opportunity to drive in the golden spike.

Left to right: Club member Denise Purington, G-Scale leader Dick Clark, and club president Rick James also took turns.

Although the G-scale group has now grown to include 21 club members, not everyone was there for the photo. G-scale members, left to right: Bob Russell, Ed Leslie, Brenda Leslie, Dave Kierstead, Howard Palmer, Dick Clark.
