GREAT FALLS MODEL RAILROAD CLUB

ADULT EDUCATION CLASS, MARCH 2011, Photos by Dick Clark

After the track is laid, the soldering gun is used for wiring the track. Beginning the scenery requires a styrofoam base (seen in pink) and plaster of Paris. The next steps include scratching the styrofoam with a wire brush to rough it up, then vacuuming the styrofoam dust, and covering the track with blue tape before applying the plaster. After the styrofoam and plaster have created the hills and other landscape features, the plaster is painted and details are added.

In the next class session, colored ground foam (to simulate grass) and other scenery details will be added to each module.
